Are pink and blue bedrooms our only choice for children?

September 20, 2014

I've been looking at properties in the Southern Highlands and I came across a house with two very telling bedrooms. No surprise I was saddened to see yet another example of how we (adults, media, advertising) have ingrained in children the belief that pink is for girls and blue is for boys.

Why do we keep limiting our children's experience of colour and expression?

The oft-used excuse "but they like pink/blue" is a little tired for my liking. Children like lollies and would eat them all day if they could but do you let them? No, because you want them to have a balanced diet.

So... why not treat their eyes the same way and assist them with a balanced diet of colour?
